Uncommon Threads Taping

In June, 2005, I was in Los Angeles to film 2 episodes of the upcoming DIY Network show, Uncommon Threads.  My friends Beth Frizzell, Jessica Sherwood-Mathis and Lucy Wacksman were featured on the show as well.  I showed 2 of my original designs.  Here are some photos of the event:

First, here is the set - you can see me in the back in a blue shirt.  I am talking to the producer, and one of the production assistants.  The set looks really purple in person, but is very groovy.  At this point, we are setting up the segment for my Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt, which is the brightly colored quilt hanging behind me.

Here are the 3 of us that were in this show sitting on the sofa talking to the host.  Allison Whitlock (on the right of the photo in pink) is the host, and she is Australian.  She did a great job as host.

Here, Lucy is bored while we have spread out our stuff the day before taping while we were getting set up.  The amount of luggage we had to carry around to make these two little episodes was really staggering.  Three different versions of everything we were making was required, as well as extra quilts to show.

This is what the sewing machine I had to use looked like when it was rigged up with the camera for the super close up shot

Here is me in the first show we taped:

And 2 pictures of the second show we taped:

Here is the taping schedule (yes, I was a dork, and took pictures of everything)
